IAM Live Chat
Documentation by 1101001

Introduction

IAM Live Chat is an IRC based chat server for IAM members exclusively. This service will allow you to chat with other IAM users in real-time in a channels and privately. You are free to start your own channels and topics of conversation, as well as chat privately with one or more people at the same time.

Because IRC servers are more strict about the characters and length of nicknames, some users will have to create an alias (see: Getting Started). All live chat users are locked to their nicknames, so you will always know which IAM user you're talking to, even those users with aliases (see: Alias Lookup).

For TOS reasons portions of IAM Live Chat are logged. Please be sure to read the both the Privacy and Rules portions of this document.

Privacy

IAM live chat is private in that only IAM users are allowed to connect and chat. However, for TOS reasons all public channels are logged as far back as 48 hours. These logs are only used to verify the validity of TOS violations.

The live chat service also employs a cloaking feature to keep your true internet IP address private. This feature is automatically turned on when you connect and cannot be turned off.

Rules

If you havent already you should probably read IAM terms of service these rules also apply to live chat. In general harassing users, hatespeech, spamming and password sharing is in violation of the TOS and your live chat privledges may be revoked.

If you witness someone breaking the rules please report them within 48 hours.

Reporting Abuse

To report an abusive user you must send a detailed email with logs to links@teambme.com, even if you contact a network admin to help you.
